"Multidisciplinary DeBrincat creates paintings which explore how we build identity and sense of self in the digital age "
AM DeBrincat is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the hybrid nature of identity in the digital age. Originally from San Francisco, California, DeBrincat received a BA in Spanish and English Literature from the University of Oregon, and received an MFA from Parsons the New School for Design.
Recent residencies and grants include residencies at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), The Wassaic Project, and Chashama, and grants from the Durst Foundation and the Deming Foundation.
AM DeBrincat's paintings create unique worlds where online and offline life meet and merge. Her mixed media technique combines fragments of images sourced from social media and online image searches which are xerox transfer printed onto canvas and intermingled with lush oil painting.
Combining digital and analog media like pieces in a visual puzzle, DeBrincat builds paintings which explore how we build identity and sense of self in the digital age.
